Marie Curie offers care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their families. The Marie Curie Nursing Service offers vital support to those requiring care and support at the end of their lives and our nurses rely on a regular supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to safely visit Marie Curie patients at home.

The pandemic has increased the volume of PPE required by our nursing staff and in order to meet this demand, we require volunteer drivers from across Northern Ireland who can regularly support us with the collection and delivery of this much-needed stock

We are looking for 20 volunteers from the following areas to give a couple of hours each fortnight to either collect PPE from Belfast Hospice or to arrange collection from our longer distance drivers and follow a regular route each time to deliver pre-packed stock of PPE to a small group of nurses’ homes within the area. The locations are:

Coleraine                    Ballymena                   Antrim/Randalstown

Larne                           Carrickfergus              Craigavon

Dungannon                 Cookstown                 Limavady

Belfast                       Newtownards             Downpatrick

Newry                         Banbridge                   Armagh

Kilkeel                         Omagh                        Enniskillen

We also need 4 volunteer drivers from who are able to cover longer distances and who can support the regular bulk collection of stock from Belfast and deliver these boxes to our volunteer drivers on their route.

Please let us know your preferred role and location(s) on your application

By giving your time to join our team, you will be playing an important role in ensuring that our nurses have a regular supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to safely visit Marie Curie patients at home and continue to provide the care they need. In return, we will provide you with training to help you carry out the role safely and support you on an ongoing basis through regular catch ups as well as reimbursing your mileage costs.

Please call Emma Thompson on 07515 135227 if you have any initial queries.
