Marie Curie provides free specialist support and care for people and their families living with a terminal illness.  Our multi-disciplinary team aims to provide person-centred expert medical, spiritual, psychological, practical and social support to help people and their families make the most of the time they have together.

Every year Marie Curie Hospices care for thousands of patients across the UK.  The charity’s nine hospices provide the largest number of hospice beds outside the NHS and offer specialist palliative care in a relaxed, friendly and comfortable environment.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, confident, innovative and HCPC registered Social Worker with post qualifying experience in a healthcare setting and grounding in statutory work.  The role is varied and includes working in both in-patient, outpatient and day therapy settings.  Key responsibilities include assessing the psycho-social, practical and emotional needs of our patients and families, planning and supporting complex discharges, and the provision of both pre and post bereavement support.

You will need to have excellent communication, organisational and social work assessment skills and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the social, psychological and spiritual needs of individuals and families facing advanced disease, death and bereavement.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and forward thinking team and have access to staff development and educational opportunities including appropriate supervision.

You will need a full clean driving licence and the use of a car with Business insurance.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Karen Allen, Patient & Family Support Manager on 0151 801 1480 or e-mail her at karen.allen@mariecurie.org.uk
