Based in the Marie Curie hospice in Penarth and reporting to the Administration Supervisor, you will provide comprehensive and professional clerical and administrative support to the clinical staff within the Inpatient Unit, whilst maintaining and promoting an organised and clean work environment.

Based on the ward reception, you will be the ‘go to person’ on the Inpatient Unit ward, processing Inpatient referrals, ensuring that all admission documentation is prepared prior to nursing/ medical consultation. You will also prepare and update supporting patient records as well as providing administration support at the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will co-ordinate and support with discharge/ transport arrangements for patients.  You will maintain all the stationery within the ward used for patient records and place the weekly ward supplies order online. You will be required to wear a mask each day, due to infection control management, as you will be in a clinical setting. Full PPE is supplied.

 You will need a comprehensive knowledge of using Microsoft Office, together with excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. You will be updating and adding patients’ information using Emis and Canisc, (patient records systems) and, therefore, you must have experience of using computers, be a competent typist and have strong attention to detail. Experience of working in a similar setting or care environment is essential. Training will be provided.

The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of the wider administration team will be important as you will be required to provide support on the hospice reception and in the main admin office on occasions. You must be comfortable prioritising your work at a fast pace to meet changing priorities. You will be the eyes and ears of the ward and must have the resilience and discretion to work in this environment. A DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate
