Marie Curie offers care and support to people living with a terminal illness, and their families. The Marie Curie Hospice Glasgow offers vital support to those requiring care and support at the end of their lives.

Our Hospice is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment for our patients and their families, however during this period, we are having to do things a little differently and for some, this might be a bit overwhelming. We are looking for friendly, confident and reliable Greeter volunteers to welcome and reassure patients and visitors when they arrive at the hospice, helping to create a safe, positive atmosphere for everyone.

As a Greeter volunteer you will take on a number of crucial tasks that will make a huge difference to those visiting loved ones. You will welcome visitors to the hospice and carefully explain some basic health and safety guidance and support visitors to wear provided PPE. You will also be required to personally escort visitors within the hospice, so a degree of physical mobility is required as you will be frequently climbing stairs. We will of course provide you with all the relevant training in advance so you can approach your role with confidence.

You may at times have to carefully explain why the additional measures are in place as well as pass on complex queries to staff, therefore good communication skills are essential. Greeters must also have empathy and an understanding of how end of life care can impact the needs of patients and their loved ones.

In return we will provide regular support and supervision to ensure that you feel part of Marie Curie and recognise the valuable contribution that you bring.

Marie Curie is committed to a world where everyone can thrive and fulfil their potential. We are devoted to the social justice imperatives and organisational benefits of full diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace, and are a Stonewall champion. We actively encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse cultures, perspectives and lived experiences.
