About the role

We have a rare opportunity for a brilliant individual to join our successful Philanthropy Team.

As a key member of the team, your role is vital in proactively sourcing and managing a portfolio of major donors, trusts and key influencers.

You will be personally responsible for securing major gifts, identifying and initiating relationships with prospective donors, developing longer-term relationships and stewarding existing supporters, understanding their motivations for giving and delivering a bespoke donor journey.

The focus of these relationships will be in Yorkshire, with some involvement more widely across the North-East. Being based at our hospice in Bradford, you will work collaboratively with our Caring Services team as well as across other fundraising teams.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will manage the Major Gifts Executive and support the Head of Philanthropy in developing key strands of the strategy contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising from trusts & foundations, and major donors. You will also support the Head of Philanthropy in managing relationships with Marie Curie’s network of senior volunteers in Yorkshire which includes Patrons and Development Boards.

About You

You are resourceful, creative, optimistic and curious by nature. With an expert knowledge of charitable trusts and foundations, you work well with other teams and succeed in maximising income whilst providing an outstanding stewardship experience.

With significant experience and a strong track record of successfully securing significant funding, you can generate new prospects through active networking. You are skilled in managing a portfolio of donors through a variety of personalised and creative approaches and have the confidence to build and maintain these strong and effective relationships.

The ability to produce consistently high quality, imaginative and compelling proposals comes with ease. Your superb written and oral communication skills are second to none and you possess a talent in connecting with people at all levels.

If you are passionate about our cause and feel you could make a difference, we would love to hear from you!
