Closing Date: 14th July 2020

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our End of Life Care Service providing care throughout West Cornwall. If you are passionate about providing end of life care for people in their own homes, we look forward to hearing from you.

You need to live within reasonable travelling distance of Penwith or North and South Kerrier (radius of 25 miles ideally).

This service will be able to respond quickly to support patients and their carers who are eligible for end of life care support in their own homes. It gives us the ability to offer one to one holistic care for people, supporting them at a time of their greatest need, in the place they have chosen to be, right up until the end of their life.

You should have some experience in this type of care and a real interest in offering exceptional end of life care for people.

A level two qualification in care is desirable but not essential. Your interest, work experience and commitment to this exceptional care is important, together with a willingness to learn and develop specialist skills in end of life care.

Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of duties including monitoring symptoms, helping to assist with medications, undertake simple dressings and continence care, and keeping detailed records. You'll also help patients to meet their hygiene and dietary needs.

In return for your commitment and hard work, Marie Curie will offer comprehensive training packages, specialist training for end of life care, enhancements for out of hours working and a mileage allowance for travel to and from patients’ homes if you use your own car. This post requires the post holder to hold a FULL driving licence to include manual transmission cars. You must indicate on the application that you have a full driving licence.

Please note that Marie Curie is not an NHS Employer. However successful candidates who were recently previous NHS workers may be eligible to continue contributions into their NHS Pension Scheme.

For an informal chat about the roles please contact Sue Egerton, Clinical Nurse Manager on 07515 133223.
