Job function

This is a key role and you will be responsible for increasing the number of supporters who include a gift in their will to Marie Curie and promote Gifts in Wills to a wider audience, primarily through face to face contact within the North of England.

Reporting to the Legacy Development Manager, you will discuss with existing supporters and engage new supporters regarding their potential legacies on a one to one basis via the telephone, email or face to face with a view to converting interest into firm legacy pledges. This should include engaging key solicitor contacts and fee earners dealing with probate matters, keeping them informed and supplied with legacy literature.

Working to targets to achieve new national and local legacy pledges and enquiries annually, you will plan, organise and follow up on a series of legacy marketing events at Marie Curie hospices and other venues across the region on an on-going basis, maximising the regional opportunities presented by the charity’s hospices and nursing appeals and other local events.

You will be the first point of contact and centre of knowledge and excellence on legacy matters for all regionally based Caring Services, Volunteering and Fundraising staff. Your ability to build relationships with staff and volunteers to ensure they understand the importance of legacy income to the charity and to equip and motivate them to promote legacies regularly, and with confidence, is also essential.

Educated to degree level, or equivalent, you will be a confident communicator and influencer with strong presentation skills, able to build and develop strong relationships at all levels. This, together with excellent IT, marketing and admin skills will be key.

Innovation and creativity is also essential – you should be highly organised, have experience of maintaining admin processes and financial records, whilst prioritising and coordinating multiple projects and delivering to deadlines. You should also have proven achievement of meeting financial targets and managing events. A willingness to work occasional anti-social hours and access to a vehicle, insured for business use, is essential.

The role can be based at any of our Marie Curie regional offices or hospice in the North of England, dependent on successful applicant’s location.

Interviews will be held in Bradford Hospice week commencing 18th November 2019
