Marie Curie has launched an End of Life Fast Track service in the North Kirklees/ Greater Huddersfield area and we are currently recruiting health care assistants to work days for this service.

You will have experience of End of Life care, be caring and compassionate and want to make a difference in the last weeks of someone’s life.  Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of duties including monitoring symptoms, helping to assist with medications, undertaking simple dressing and continence care, and keeping detailed records. You'll also help patients to meet their hygiene and dietary needs.

Marie Curie values its staff and recognises that caring for dying patients can be challenging. Giving emotional and practical support to a dying person isn’t a job anybody can do, and we need people who are emotionally resilient and able to forge strong empathetic relationships will all kinds of people.  We provide excellent on-going training as well as clinical supervision and 121 support from your line manager

To join our dedicated, caring team, you'll need an S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma and relevant experience – ideally within a care setting. Due to the nature of the role a flexible approach and access and use of a car is essential.
