Hospice, Patient/Family Support

In this varied and fulfilling role you will have the opportunity to get involved in the heart of the Day Therapy Unit of the hospice, lending a helping hand in all sorts of areas.

From welcoming patients and carers into the Day Therapy Unit, to providing refreshments and serving lunch, you will help the unit run smoothly from the moment our visitors arrive.

You will also spend time having a chat with our patients, talking to them about whatever topic takes your fancy, whether news, sport, current affairs, or their interests. You might assist by listening to patients’ concerns and worries, being sure to refer all medical, social and personal problems to staff members. A key aspect of your role will also be to participate in recreational and creative activities with our patients.

Other duties might include ensuring areas are kept clean and tidy and that all visitors know where they are going. So as you can see, no session as a Day Therapy Volunteer is typical!

Get involved in the hospice and you will make a real difference to the smooth running of the unit and to the experience of our patients and their families, all while enjoying the variety this role offers.
