The Marie Curie Helper service is provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one support to people with a terminal illness and their families. Volunteers are matched to individuals and families and provide company, companionship and emotional support.
We are looking for dedicated and committed Lead Volunteers who are able to donate a few hours a week to play an important part in the Helper service continuing to reach more people within your local community. Lead Volunteers support the Volunteer Co-ordinator in identifying opportunities for development, which might include using your own local knowledge and expertise to promote the service including its volunteer opportunities. You may also be required to provide cover for helper volunteers by offering companionship, and emotional and practical support.
You might be involved in client assessments and the recruitment and support of volunteers at induction, on-going training and support in 1:1 and group settings. Lead volunteers might also visit and liaise with individuals and families supported by the service.
There will be a recruitment and selection process for this volunteer role. We will provide an induction and on-going training to support your development in the role.
The Marie Curie Helper service offers crucial support to those living with a terminal illness in your local area. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if not for the commitment and hard work of volunteers like you.
