Marie Curie is here for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Marie Curie offers expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.

Our Marie Curie nurses and healthcare assistants work night and day, in people’s homes across the UK, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. Our Marie Curie hospices offer specialist round-the-clock care. Marie Curie support people throughout their illness by giving practical information, support from trained volunteers and being there when someone wants to talk.

Volunteer Coordinator

Based at: St Joseph’s Hospice, London

35 hours per week / Permanent

£26,044 per annum plus London Allowance £2,550

It’s the little things that can make a big difference – like having someone to chat to over a cup of tea or having some help to get to an appointment. That’s where Marie Curie volunteers come in. Dedicated volunteers support individuals and families living with a terminal illness. Support can be emotional, practical or the provision of information about other services.

Reporting to the Regional Volunteering Development Manager– this brand new and exciting role will see you will assist in the development of local and national Marie Curie volunteer services as well as being responsible for the day to day coordination of all volunteer services in your areas. This will include the promotion, recruitment, induction, training and management of new volunteers right through to the acceptance of patient referrals and assessments liaising with healthcare professional, families and patients themselves.

An understanding and empathy of the needs of patients and their families living with a terminal illness is essential, as is excellent communication skills with the ability to listen and understand what each individual or family wants and needs in the way of volunteer support. The ability to respond quickly to service demands will also be essential.

A key part of Marie Curie’s Volunteering Department, ideally you will come to us with a passion for and a background in recruiting and managing volunteers.
