Patient and Family Support Team
You will support patients and their loved ones to access their own spiritual resources, communities or traditions and address spiritual and existential questions upon request. You will also provide informed ethical, theological, spiritual, religious and pastoral resources to individuals and groups and contribute to the hospice education, training and research programme providing appropriate space and facilities for worship, as well as religious expression and observance, reflecting the faith groups represented in the unit, and in response to individual needs.
Able to inspire, enthuse and empower others, you will be confident in developing local links with leaders of all the major faiths, working as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary allied health team and support the hospice strategy of providing the highest quality spiritual and pastoral care at all times. A proven ability to communicate with people with differing faiths and an understanding of the needs and support required of people living with terminal illness and their families is essential.
You will also support the expansion of the bereavement service provided to families and loved ones of patients who have received care from the hospice. You will also assist the Allied Health Services Manager in the recruitment, training and support of bereavement support volunteers.
It takes a special kind of person to fulfil this role. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
For an informal discussion, please telephone Rebecca Lewis, Allied Health Services Manager on 02920 426000.
